Hop scotch, marbles and baseball are again becoming popular popu-lar on the school grounds, with both students and teachers wishing they could hold classes out of doors. The usual spring increase in the number of absences and "tardies" seems to show that some of the students are doing more than just wishing they could stay outside. A sudden siege of broken windows in the school building proves how popular pop-ular baseball is becoming among the students. I With the coming of spring, many new activities are being planned to round out the events of the school year. Among those coming are the spring formal dance, girls' day, sluff day, clean-up day, and graduation. grad-uation. The student officers have been called together several times to make plans for these events, but so far no definite dates have been set for any of them. The first spring event this year will be the spring formal. The theme, "Easter Parade," was selected se-lected at a'recent meeting of the ninth and tenth grade students, and work' has begun on the- dec-ofating dec-ofating of the gym.- However, because be-cause of the failure of decorating materials to arrive in time, it has been impossible to announce the exact date of the dance. Members of all four grades of junior high have been asked to help with the decorations, which will be made according to the plans of the two upper grades. Students of the elementary school are now spending most of their recess and noon play periods practicing hop-scotch and marbles, in preparation for the state-wide school contest soon to be held. This contest is open to both boys and girls of all grades up to the age of 14, with prizes of bicycles being offered for first place winners. 1 |
