Show Students invited to enter poster contest A slogan and poster contest has been held in the schools in connection with the "Parents, "Par-ents, It's Ten O'clock" Program Pro-gram sponsored by the the Youth Committee. Under the direction of Mrs. Darrell Haws, students in the Springville Junior High School and Middle School who are entering en-tering the contest will have their posters judged and first second and third place awards will be announced at each of the two schools and will be announced in next week's paper. pa-per. In the elementary schools, students were assigned to make drawings and slogans to take to their parents in emphasizing the slogan and as a reminder to both student and parent. An overflow crowd of parents, par-ents, teachers and students of the Middle School met last Wednesday to hear a panel of youth from the Utah State hospital explain the various activities of the Youth Center at the hospital. Duing a question and answer period it was learned that the members of the panel used tobacco to-bacco by the time they were in the fifth grade and that the use of tobacco led them to try stronger narcotics. They remarked re-marked that tobacco has such a hold on theru now that they fear they cannot give it up even though they would like to dr. so. Mrs. Justen Jenkins of Ma-pleton Ma-pleton and Eugene Johnson were elected to the nominating committee. The next PTA meeting meet-ing will be held April 16. |
