Show People who enforce laws should set the example in obeying obey-ing the laws. Mapleton News Mrs. Blake Everett The Explorer Scouts of the Mapleton First Ward left early Monday morning for a trip down the Green River. Their leader Ira Allan will act as guide for the group and Bishop Bish-op Harold Gividen also accompanied accom-panied them. They are planning plan-ning to camp out and ,cook their meals along the river. It will be a four or five day trip. Mr .and Mrs. Jackie Canto have returned to their home in California after visiting with Thelma DeGraw and the hostesses, hos-tesses, Doris Ann Rowberry, Kay Prestwich and Virginia Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bills enjoyed a visit from their son Ted Bills and his family of Los Angeles, Calif., last week. They were on their way to Niagara Falls, New York for a vacation and will return to Mapleton later la-ter this month. Other visitors at the Bills home this week was their daughter, Mrs. Na-dine Na-dine Barnes, her husband, De-Vere De-Vere and their family of Lander, Lan-der, Wyoming. The Barnes family went on to St. George to visit her sister, Mrs. Pat Haymond and her family, then on to Las Vegas before returning re-turning to Wyoming. his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Canto. Their daughter, Joy, stayed here for a longer vacation vaca-tion with her grandparents. The firemen's auxiliary entertained en-tertained their husbands with a potluck supper at the park Friday night. Officers in charge were Arline Antonino, Nortica Barker, Elaine Mason and Doris Dor-is Ann Bulow. A good crowd attended. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Graves are parents of a baby girl born July 6 at the Utah Valley Hospital. Hos-pital. Mr .and Mrs. Norman Barker Bar-ker are parents of a baby boy born July 7 at the Utah Valley Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cox spent several days last week camping camp-ing at Fish Lake with the George Cox family reunion. Members of the family came from all over the state and several surrounding states. The George Cox family lived in Springville for many years, and later in Mapleton. Since returning from the reunion re-union Cindy Farnsworth of He-ber, He-ber, Utah, has been visiting with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cox. I Officers of the Mapleton Second Sec-ond Ward Primary were hostesses host-esses at a breakfast for all of the teachers of their association associa-tion at the Mapleton Park on Friday morning. Verlaine Tanner Tan-ner was honored with an award of a fifteen year pin for her service in the Primary, and a ten year pin will be presented to Mrs. Margaret Peay later, as she was unable to attend the breakfast. Others who were present were: LaVon Miller, Marie Morgan, Marie Turner, Hazel Court, Alma Whiting, Beverly Walker, Ann Walker, Ei-ma Hjorth, Vanda Jensen, I Lila Davies, Verlaine Tanner, Mr. and Mrs. Scot Wetherel and children, Ruth Ann and ' Bret of ElPaso, Texas, are visiting vis-iting this week with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Blake Everett Ev-erett and with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Wetherell in Nephi. Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Laney of Henderson, Nevada, spent a few days last week visiting with her sister, Mrs. Neola Steiner and her family and with other relatives in this area. ar-ea. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Gividen returned Monday from a trip to Flagstaff, Arizona, where they visited with their daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Jerry Beck. The Beck's daughters, Kristine, Molly and Debbie have been visiting in Utah with their grandparents and returned to their home with them. Also accompanying the Gividens was another granddaughter, Lynnette Nelson Nel-son of Spanish Fork. Bill Bleggi has a broken leg as the result of a ball playing accident last week. |
