Show Co! Inn authors book about Utah's sports Informative, something interestingly inter-estingly different, is the new book, just off the press, "25 Years of Utah Sports" written by genial Bill Coltrin, sports writer of the Tribune and Telegram. Tele-gram. The 221 page book, covers the prep side of Utah sports for the most part, but includes throughout the 25 years, other interesting results in college, and miscellaneous fields with amusing quips and stories of sports coaches and leaders through those years. The book attempts to capture high school memories and lists the state winners from 25 years back in both football and basketball.' bas-ketball.' Included are Spring-ville's Spring-ville's two championship teams of 1952 and 1958 and coached by Paul Wilson and Alma Garrett, Gar-rett, respectively. Bill Coltrin was born in Indiana, In-diana, reared in California and has been a Utahn by choice since 1935. He graduated from BYU in 1939 and worked for the Provo Herald as a sports writer while attending the Y. He joined the Tribune as a sports correspondent in March of 1940 and in September of 1942 began work in the Salt Lake office of the Telegram. He worked in this office until the early '50's when he became a sports writer for the Tribune. The book carries an introduction introduc-tion by veteran columnist, Dan Valentine. |
