Show Maplefon News Mrs. Blake Everett Mapleton Jaycees held a successful suc-cessful turkey shoot over the weeken at the Pacific States and Wildlife shooting range in Hobble Creek Canyon. Twenty-eight Twenty-eight turkeys were won by successful suc-cessful marksmen for their Thanksgiviing dinners. All Jay-cee Jay-cee members participated as well as many others who came to enjoy the sport. The club wishes to thank Paul Hansen and his color group who were in charge of the shoot, and they also wish to thank Garth Kilpack, president of Spring-ville-Mapleton Wildlife Association Associa-tion for permitting the use of the range Mapleton Firemen's auxiliary held a dinner meeting at the Grand View Cafe last week with Arline Antonino and Mabel Ma-bel Paulson in charge. President Presi-dent Janet Carnesecca conduc- iea a snort business meeting, and election of officers for the coming year was held. New officers of-ficers elected were: Arline Antonino, president; Nortica Barker, vice president; Lois Graves, secretary and Doris Bulow, historian. Concluding event of the year for the organization will be a dinner-meeting at the Oak Crest Inn, Dec. 16, to which the husbands will also be invited. in-vited. Mapleton's Lion Club held a banquet at Barts on Thursday evening, with Glen and Norma Mackenzie and Cleone and Far-ral Far-ral Ogilvie as hosts. Musical numbers were furnished by Preston Hooper who sang a number accompanied by Nancy Dove, and by Beth Olsen who also sang and was accompanied by Mrs. Dove. Tables were decorated dec-orated in a Thanksgiving theme. Mr. and Mrs. Loris Diamond attended the quarterly board meeting for the Jaycees Saturday. Satur-day. It was held at the Prudential Pruden-tial Building in Salt Lake. Ski Club. National director, Mr. Sorensen of Salina, will be the speaker for the evening. Some members of the Springville club will join the group for the evening. Jim Diamond's color group is in charge of the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hughes and two children arrived ar-rived this week to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hjorth. They will also visit other relatives here and in Spanish Fork. The Hughes family makes their home in Annon Dale, Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Diamond held a family gathering at their home Sunday for their daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Ferrus Hales, and her five children, who are visiting vis-iting here from Las Vegas. Mr. Hales is teaching school in Las Vegas and will joiin the family for Thanksgiving Day. Those who came to visit Sunday Sun-day were : Mr. and Mrs. Paul Diamond and family of Payson; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Diamond and family of Springville; Mr. and Mrs. Loris Diamond and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Diamond and daughter, Margo, and Mrs. Helen Beck of Leland. The Needlecraft Club met Thursday afternoon at the home of Sarah Mendenhall in Provo. Hostesses in addition to Mrs. Mendenhall were Jenny Tew, Belva Wentz and Norma Woolsey. Fourteen mem bers were present, and they worked on a beautiful quilt during the afternoon. Joe Binks, a former Mapleton resident, is in the hospital this week in California for surgery. Burt Warren is home after receiving treatment for an illness ill-ness at the Utah Valley Hospital. Hos-pital. Mapleton Jaycees will hold a dinner-meeting Friday at the |
