Springville Pleasant Grove at Lehi American Fork at Orem Coach Hal Jensen and his Springville Red Devils have a golden opportunity this Friday and next Wednesday to further prove their hardwood ability and if successful, chalk up the Region 4, Southern Division basketball chamionship. Friday night they face the unpredictable Carbon Dinos on the Red Devil floor in an important im-portant encounter. It will be well for the Devils to remember remem-ber how the Dinos treated the high-riding, undefeated Provo Bulldogs three games ago when they shocked even the most skeptic Provo fan with an amazing upset win. The Red Devils will need to be "up" for this contest as the Dinos would also like to even the series with Coach Jensen's five for the shellacking at Price. League games will close with the big finale at Provo next Wednesday night, March 2. This week's games at Springville Spring-ville and at Spanish Fork where Provo plays the Dons tonight will certainly set the stage for the Provo battle. The Dons of Spanish Fork could upset the Provo club and should the Devils win over Carbon, Springville with a Provo Pro-vo victory, could end two games ahead of the Provo club. On the other hand, a loss to Carbon and Provo by the Devils Dev-ils would reverse the situation If both Provo and Springville win, the two teams would go into the final game tied and the winner would hold sole possession pos-session of the southern title. Win or lose, both Springville and Provo are assured a berth in the Class A tournament which opens March 7 through 12. In a brilliant fourth quarter spurt, the Red Devils came back from a 57-51 third quarter quar-ter deficit to hand the Lehi club a 72-65 loss here Friday. The entire Red Devil team played well with every member scoring. Miner was top man with 19, Averett 14, Christen-sen Christen-sen 12, Jensen 10, Liddiard, 9 and Giles 8. Lehi had four players in double figures also to keep the scoring pretty evenly ev-enly divided.
