Show Services held Tuesday for Gwen H. Baxter t :' I Mrs. Gwen Houston Baxter, for whom services were conducted con-ducted here Tuesday, Dec 14. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the First-Twelfth Ward Chapel, for Mrs. Gwen Houston Baxter, 67, who died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1965, at the Utah Valley Hospital, of complications com-plications following surgery performed ten days before. Bishop Don Watts of the Twelfth Ward, was in charge of the services. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, directed by Wheeler Mortuary. Mrs. Baxter was born Jan. 18, 1898, in Panguitch, a daughter of Joseph and Annie Davis Houston. She was married mar-ried to Hugh A. Baxter, April 3, 1917, at Panguitch. Mr. Baxter Bax-ter died in 1959. She was a member of the LDS Church, and was an active ac-tive club woman, serving as president of the Home Culture Club and the S.T. Club of Springville. She served as president pres-ident of the President's Council Coun-cil of Federated Women's Clubs in Springville last year, and in that position was chairman of the annual Art Tea. Mrs. Baxter was one of the organizers and leaders of the Springville Senior Citizens. For seven years she was matron of the Utah County Youth Home, while her husband was superintendent. Mrs. Baxter was noted for her hobbies of millinery, china painting and hand work. Surviving are a son and three daughters: Hoyt Baxter and Mrs. Albert (Delia) Clark of Orem; Mrs. Roger (Ruth) Nielsen of Salina; and Mrs Ralph (Bonnie) Alexander of Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren; grandchil-dren; three brothers, Tom and Quince Houston of Panguitch, and George R. Houston of Beverley Bev-erley Hills, Calif. |
