Show Former Cedar resident retires; honored at BYU for contributions mosaics and prints' created during his years at BYU. Weaver began his teaching career at Helper Junior High School and then Cyprus High School in Magna. He spent the next ten years at Logan High School and during seven of them he taught night and summer school at Utah State. He has also spent two different summers in Hawaii conducting workshops and teaching at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu. He holds the rank of professor of art and design. Professor Weaver left his mark in Southern Utah in the form of paintings and ceramic pieces in various homes as well as having designed the mosaic in the foyer of the College Science Building. One of his paintings of the Great White Throne hangs at Zions. PROVOv- Max D. Weaver, former Cedar City resident, will be honored at a reception tonight at the Brigham Young University Harris Fine Arts Center. After having taught art at College of Southern Utah, now Southern Utah State College, Weaver joined the faculty at BYU where . he made a significant contribution to the departments of art and design as an artist-craftsman-educator. His retirement after 21 years is marked by an exhibit which will run Aug. 2-30 in the B.F. Larson Gallery. Featured in the exhibit will be paintings, ceramics, jewelry, |
