Huber will student teach this fall at Cedar City High School and will graduate next spring with a B.S. in business education and a minor in music. Me plans to teach at the high school level and work towards a masters degree in education. The 1982 Mr. Future Business Teacher is the son of Darrell and Mary Lou Huber, La Point, Uintah County. He is married to the former Susan Lemon, and they are the parents of an 11-month-old son, Colby. Chi Alpha Chapter was recognized at the national conference attended by over 1,200 university and college students and their advisors as the third largest chapter in the western division, an area covering the states of Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Arizona, Montana, Nevada and Utah. The chapter also placed eighth in competition for the National Advisory Council Leadership Award. "Keeping in Touch with the Business of America" was the PBL theme for 1981-82, and SUSC used this slogan for a Cedar City Chamber of Commerce presentation and in activities associated with the chapter's presentation of its annual Businessperson of the Year Award. Also attending the national conference were Mark Kenney and Scott Johnson who competed, respectively, in Accounting Ac-counting II and economics contests; True Ott, the 1982-83 Chi Alpha President; and Jeffrey Maxwell, newly elected State PBL Treasurer. Williamson accompanied the group. PBL is a national organization for post-secondary post-secondary and college students interested in careers in business and business education. PBL (Professional Business Leaders) and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America the high school equivalent of PBL), are sponsored by the National Business Education Association. Lambda National Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, Ind. Cal D. Huber, a senior business education major at SUSC, received the first place award after competing against other state winners in the national business contest. As the winner, he received an engraved plaque and a $500 cash award donated by the National Foundation of Independent Businessmen. Huber was named Utah's Mr. Future Business Teacher at the state PBL contest held in April. An active member of SUSC's Chi Alpha Chgapter, he was the 1981-82 State PBL vice-president, vice-president, and was honored at the state meet as the first place winner in Who's Who in PBL. Competition on the national level, he said, included a written examination which covered all aspects of business education, business teaching methods and PBL history, along with a personal interview conducted much like a job interview complete with letters of application and recommendation. Finalists were then selected, a final interview in-terview held with three different judges, and the winner names. "It is indeed an honor for an SUSC student to win this coveted award," Doris Williamson, Chi Alpha Chapter Advisor, said. "We believe it is an indication of the strength of the SUSC business programs and of the quality of students attending at-tending Southern" Utah State College." "Chi Alpha students have done exceptionally well at the national level," Williamson, associate pprofessor of business, said. Philip Lee was named Mr. Future Business Teacher in 1979, Jerald H. Bybee won third place in Mr. Future Business Executive competition in 1981, and several other SUSC students have received national recognition over the past Cal D.
