One unit of credit is available for the workshop, either on a graduate basis through Utah State University or as an undergraduate credit through SUSC. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the lobby of SUSC's Old Administration Ad-ministration Building on July 16. The workshop will conclude at 3:30 p.m. July 17 with a meeting for those seeking SUSC or USU credit. Two general sessions, fifteen small group discussions, exhibits and a noon buffet are on the agenda. The workshop has been planned to coincide with the opening of the Utah Shakespearean Shake-spearean Festival, and a few tickets are available lor July 16-18 performances of "Much Ado About Nothing," "Hamlet" and "Henry IV, Part I." "Festival tickets are in short supply so reservations must be made immediately," Swanson said. The box office number is 586-3636. The buffet will be Friday at noon. Tickets are available for $5 by contacting SUSC Conferences Con-ferences and Workshops, 586-7853. "Conferees are encouraged to attend the buffet," Swanson said. "Many of the publishers exhibiting education materials during the conference will be awarding door prizes then." Registration for the conference is $10 if paid prior to July 10, S12 after. An additional $32 is required if the reading conference is taken for credit through SUSC's Education 492, Readings and Conferences. For credit through Utah State University, a $42 graduate fee is required. Beal teaches graduate classes ranging from reading readiness to content reading for teachers as associate professor of reading and learning disabilities at Humboldt State. She is a consultant to several California school districts and has served visiting professorships at Pacific College, Fresno, Calif.; Arizona State University ; University of Nevada, Reno and Las Vegas; and for the Clark County School District. Her teaching experiences include several years as an elementary school teacher in New York state, three years as a Title 1 Corrdinator and reading consultant at Union Springs, New York and three years as a graduate assistant at Arizona State University. Other speakers for the SUSC workshop are Ann C. Searleand Brian Page. Brenda U. Beal, associate professor of reading and learning disabilities at Humboldt State University, Arcada, Calif., will be the keynote speaker for the July 16-17 first Southern Utah State College Reading Conference. Con-ference. Dr. Beal will address general conference sessions with speeches titled "Will the Fuschias Ever Bloom?" and "Do Bananas Telephone?" Reading specialists from Utah and several other states are other scheduled speakers. "The Challenge Ahead: Literacy for Every Child" is being jointly sponsored by the Utah f Department of Education and the SUSC Department Depart-ment of Teacher Education. It has been developed for all elementary and secondary secon-dary teachers, learning disability and reading specialists, administrators, ad-ministrators, parents and education students interested in-terested in the reading process. "Dr. Beal is a very entertaining as well as informative speaker. It is a pleasure to welcome her and the other guest educators to SUSC's First Reading Conference," , said Charlene C.
