Show RECREATION CENTER ACTIVITIES j by Mike Zdunich j Today we started out basket-i basket-i ball leagues and I must say for ! the opening games of the season j the boys looked very good and some of the fellows showed some fine shooting. The Junior league started their league off with a bang. There were two very good games with Spud's Gang beating a very good ; Bingham team. Spud's Gang, working off of the post showed j remarkable ways in which the boys can make plays. Time and again the ball went in to Bill English and he just kept handing the ball to Joey Robertson and Mont Nelson. For the Bingham team it was LeRoy Lovato and Fum. Watanabe who did the most for the losers. The top scorer in the game was Mont Nelson for the winners, for the losers it was Lovato and Watanabe with six apiece. In the other game it was Copperfield beating Hurley's Service by a score of 14 to 7. This game you might say was Sherman Sher-man Miller against the opposing team because he out scored the losers whole team. Hitting with good results he dropped in 12 points while Max Duran hit for the other two. For the losers it was Keith LaComb leading the team. With fine passing and good bankboard work, he - was also their leading scorer with three points. Tom Redmond got two, Johnnie Johnson and Donnie Wright both got one. What's the matter with you Junior High boys. Don't you want to play basketball this year? We need three more teams to complete com-plete the league. Swimming is FREE. Just bring your bathing suit and a towel. We will swim when there is at least ten boys or girls to go in the pool at the same time. It is open from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Monday is reserved for girls but if it be the case there aren't ten girls to go in at once boys will gladly fill the required quota. Remember, it is germs that give colds not the weather or water. We want to develop some good swimmers for Bingham. o |
