Show c&m $Zutico Valley j ) Barbara Mayer i.XJ' ) I don't know anyone that doesn't enjoy a band. I sure did last Wednesday evening when the Milford School Bands presented their annual an-nual Christmas Concert. Those in the valley playing in the Elementary Band are: Cindy Pearson and Ryan Puffer. Puf-fer. The High School Band players are: Aaron Mayer, Tammy Merryweather,Joel Mayer, Elizabeth Bettridge and Mark Corbridge. Jim and I and my brother Ronald Walker were over to Richfield last Tuesday to see our father at the Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield and as we were walking out a lady passed by us and I said I know that lady and asked who she was, they said Mrs. Richard (Venice) Bell, and I said she used to teach in Mil-ford Mil-ford and her husband was principal of the old Elementary Elemen-tary School, that was located behind the High School and was tore down in 1960. I called Mrs. Bell on the phone and had a nice visit with her. They came here in 1955. They have three daughters,Susan,Julie and Mar lam, and one son Richard. Ronald got out his little yearbook, which he believes was the only yearbook year-book the 'Elementary School ever made. Mrs. Bell taught Ron in the third grade 1956-57. There were 48 students in their class and Mrs. Athene Roberts (a past resident of the valley) val-ley) taught the other half with the small 2nd grade. Ronald commented that Deanna's class ahead of his class our sister had 54 students. stu-dents. They were called War Babies,(Don't sound like War to me)! We went through the names of the children who were from the valley. There was Robert Willingham, Katie Gronning, Susan Yardley, Melvin Stewart, Virginia Bailey,Teddy Arvald and La-Rae La-Rae Marshall. Out of those Ronald and Melvin are still here. Out of the children who live in town at that time, who are still here are Dr. Mike Symond.Wendy Holm, Olive Thomas,Grant Wadsworth, Calvin Rogers, Ron Wunderlich, Carol Jean Hanley and Kent MellorJJrs. Venice Bell also taught kindergarten. Friday, my father had to be take to Cottonwood Hospital Hos-pital in Murray for emergency emer-gency surgery. He was taken by ambulance and Jim and I picked up mother Virginia Walker and we spent three days there. Like the specialist special-ist said he's a tough guy and also a lot of prayers were answered again. While there we went with Uncle Dick Thompson to the Veteran's Hospital to visit Uncle Ray Thompson who is recovering recover-ing from a heart attack. Aaron Mayer, Mark Corbridge Cor-bridge and Darrin Corbridge, Cor-bridge, piano students of Mrs. Vicki Fotherinham, performed at the Milford Hospital Friday afternoon. I forgot to mention last week that Arlan and Kristen Mayer are now living in their new home. They invite in-vite their friends to come and visit them. Dwayne and Maurine Yardley are the new custodians cus-todians of the Milford LDS Church, and we want to thank them for the use of the movie projector last week to show the movie on at the Club Houe. Jim and I went to the Beaver County Court House last week and they showed us the section of land where Larry and Adrianne Whit-taker, Whit-taker, Gordon and Laurie Bozarth live and they named it Valley Center Subdivision. Merlyn Merryweather went to Salt Lake with her daughter Zelda Coon, also Blair and Janet. They picked up Zelda's oldest daughter Elaine to have her home for the holidays. Home for the Holidays are Mr. and Mrs. H. Naurse son Donald and wife and two children from Killeen, Texas. Donald is a captain in the Army. We had a lovely couple visit us Monday bearing a big basket of goodies, Gale and Lola Banks of Milford. What a nice guesture for a man to tip his hat when they say hello to you and how nice it makes you feel Thanks Tom James. |
