Show UTAH RECEIVES $627,500 FEDERAL GRANT A $627,500 federal grant has been awarded to the state of Utah to continue its planning plan-ning efforts in anticipation of potential community impacts which will accompany the state's oil shale and tar sands development. The Utah Energy Office received notice of the grant this week and will be the coordinating agency for the planning effort. Synthetic fuel development in Utah will create significant signifi-cant socio economic needs, and this grant demonstrates that the federal government accepts a portion of the responsibility res-ponsibility in addressing the needs. Current projections indicate that over 60 of the population growth in Utah by the year 2000 will be energy ener-gy related, and that proper .community and state planning plan-ning is essential to orderly ; development. . |
