Show Two got nil -State recognition Beaver County placed two of their basketball players on the A 11 -State rosters this past week. Tiger Ken Jones was picked pick-ed as the most valuable player play-er on the Deseret News all-state all-state team, and Beaver's Shane Blackner was on the second team. I mil I li i i.nujiiu XI KEN JONES MVP The Tribune placed both players on their all-state first team along with Randy Warren, Ronald Nay and Ronnie Hill, of Gunnison, Troy Hallows, North Sevier; Ben Johnson, Kanab; Robert Spillman, Wendover; Greg Brown, Dugway; Clayde Stembridge, South Summit; and John Hyland, St. Joseph. SHANE BLACKNER Kim Williams made the second team on the Tribune roster, and Mark Whitney was first team Region Eight , on the Deseret News roster, for other Tigers gaining recognition. rec-ognition. Jones was the top 1-A scorer in Class 1-A and high scorer in the state tournament, tourna-ment, showing plenty of hustle, and ball savy through out his career. He was named to all-state teams as a sophomore and junior. He led the Tigers to second place in the state tourney. Blackner was the sharp -shooting center for the Beavers, Bea-vers, who came on strong late in the season, and captured cap-tured the consolation cham -pionship and fifth place in the state tourney. All are O seniors. Jones and Blackner will be honored along with all-staters all-staters from all four classes at banquets sponsored by the respective publications. Each will receive commemorative commem-orative plaques in recognition recog-nition of their basketball prowess. |
