Show ' Cattlemen banquet held in Beaver beth Yardley, president, of the Cowbells gave a report of" the activities of the Cowbells Cow-bells and presided over their division of the meeting. Ralph Pearson, president presi-dent , presided and Eliza - M ildred Yardley was winner last year. Sherman Harm er reported on activities of the State and National Association. He reported re-ported that they had a successful suc-cessful year in the State Legislature getting a bill on Brucellosis Control and brand inspection. Also, more important some bills were stopped that would have been detrimental to the industry. Gilbert Yardley reported on his term as a member of the B.L.M. Advisory Board and the imputs he was and was not permited to make there. Mr. Yardley reported report-ed that this board was set up for one year only and that people would have to request that, another be appointed ap-pointed or none would be appointed. ap-pointed. The stockmen went on record of favoring the appointment ap-pointment of a B.L.M. Advisory Ad-visory Board. Grant Esplin, secretary, reported on some aspects of the environmental impacts statements being written and indicated that it was unfortunate unfor-tunate that many millions of dollars were being spent writing these statements when It could be used to much greater advantage on range improvement programs. This program is scheduled to take 13 years and no range improvement work can take place on many of the ranges until the EIS is written. The association sponsored a range tour and steak fry last year and an out-of-state tour to Texas. Plans for the 1977 range tour and steak fry will be made at a later date when range conditions can be ascertained. as-certained. Date for the Beaver County Coun-ty Livestock Show was set for May 7th; This is earlier than usual but conflicts on later dates was the deciding factor. Board members elected for a three -year term were Fay Marshall and Leon Paice. Hold over board members are Ralph Pearson, Calvin Yardley, Gilbert Yardley, Bill Wood, and Joe Kesler. Officers elected were: ' Ralph Pearson, president, Gilbert Yardley, vice-president, vice-president, and Grant Esplin, secretary. Cowbelle officers elected elect-ed were Elizabeth Yardley, president, Kathy Yardley, ed -ucation chairman and Mar-gorie Mar-gorie Johnson, secretary. |
