Howard Salt Lake director of the Bureau of Land Management, said eighteen units were offered In Crater Springs, Lund, Monroe-Joseph and Thermo KGRA's, totaling 36,956 acres. Bids were received on only thirteen units, totaling 26-970 26-970 acres. High bidders were as follows: CRATER SPRINGS, KGRA Juab County Geothermal Resources International, Inc. of Marina Del -Ray, Calif., Unit 1, $8,320.00 for 2,558 acres; Unit 2, $8,352 for 2,568 acres; Unit 4, $7,020.00 for 2,160 acres; Unit 5, $8,357.00 for 2,571 acres; Unit 6, $8,350 for 2,560 acres. Chevron Oil Company Denver, Unit 3, $9,250.00 for 2,582 acres; and Charles L. Golding of Bakersfield, Calif., Unit 7, $2,832.00 for 1,600 acres; and Unit 8, $3,115.00 for 1,760 acres. THERMO KGRA, Beaver County Southern Union Production Company, Reno, Nevada, Unit 14, $6,344.00 for 1, 882 acres; Unit 16, $12,226 for 1,679 acres;Unit 17, $10,161 for 1,924 acres. Republic Geothermal Inc. of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., Unit 15, $6,147.00 for 1,200 acres; Geothermal Resources Re-sources International Inc., Unit 18, $6,240.00 for 1,920 acres. No bids were received on the Monroe Joseph and Lund units 9-10-11-12-13. Bidding ranged from a low of $1.77 per acre to a high of $3.58 per acre in the Crater Springs KGRA, while bidding was generally higher at Thermo ranging from $3.25 per acre on Unit 18 up to a high of $7.28 on Unit 16. This was the fourth offering in Utah. BLM has offered a total of 108,000 acres in Utah for competition steam leases since June 1974. Bids have run from as low as $1.00 per acre to the $361.83 paid by Union at Cove Fort-Sul-furdale last March. High bid at Roosevelt Springs was $128.06 by Phillips Petroleum. Total bids add up to $3,679,495.00 on 77,000 acres. |
