Show Ngtj Council Settles Down To City Business Without Fanfare appointed as Mayor Pro-tern. The TV Committee was retained re-tained as is with Hardy Chm., Norm Thompson, John Beitz, O. C. Koch and John H.Davis. A letter from the County Commission requested appointment ap-pointment of members to the proposed County-wide Fire Study Committee. Mayor Young was appointed by the Commission as the temporary chairman to call a meeting to get the group underway. He said he had appointed Hardy and Fire Chief Whiting to represent Milford 'on the Committee. , He explained the purpose of the Committee which is to study the fire protection needs of the county and make recommendations re-commendations to the Commissioners. Com-missioners. The purpose is to equalize financing and quality of fire protection in the county, while maintaining the individual districts. Councilwoman Whittaker made her recommendations for a Milford Historical Society. So-ciety. Appointments and direction will be made at the next meeting. Other business included: Approved 23 applications for reduced water fees. In the absence of bidding on city gasoline, they decided decid-ed to stick with present supplier sup-plier If possible. Raised price of aviation fuel and authorized automatic raises as they are received from wholesaler. Authorized purchase of at least one fire plug. M. during daylight day-light saving time. With little fanfare new Mayor Young and his new city council settled right down to the matter of taking care of the city's business. Mayor Young andnewCoun-cilmen andnewCoun-cilmen Dalton and Jiminez were sworn into office at the stroke of noon Monday by City Recorder Nadine Jones. The only item of immediate immed-iate business facing the council coun-cil was a complaint filed against Caspers Bar and owner LuDean Barnes. He was asked in the complaint to appear before be-fore the Council and answer why he did not close at the appropriate hour on New Years Eve. He stated simply that he had received permission from Mayor Mayer, who was still in office at that time. On Mayor Young's recommendation recommend-ation the complaint was dismissed dis-missed at tliis time. Mayor Young said that the laws of the city were going to be followed and that any violation would be dealt with at that time.
