Show Democrats Nominate Three For Council Seats member of Community Education Educa-tion Council and teaches Social So-cial Sciences at MHS. He is a member of the Lions, American Legion, V.F.W. and th.i IOOF. A group of seventy-three interested in-terested citizens gathered last Thursday to nominate hxee people on the Democratic party par-ty ticket for the Milford municipal mun-icipal election. Seven names were nominated for the three positions, with Enoch Swain, Gladys Whittak-er Whittak-er and Bust Hardy getting the nod over, Max Mecham, Alden Johnson, Roy Young and Ted Bridge. Roy Young, was renamed to chair the party as were Clark Dalton, vice-chairman, and Mary Raines, sec.-treas. The News this weeg interviewed inter-viewed the three candidates for city council so that you might gnow them better. i Jp Gladys Whittaker Gladsy Whittaker, 43, was born in Circleville and graduated grad-uated from Panguitch. She and her husband "Bud" have five children. Brad is married and lives in Cedar City, Judy (Mrs. Ron Bailey) and Gary both live in Milford and Larry is a senior in high school and Karen in the seventh grade. Her hobbies run to sewing and refinishing furniture. She is president of the Better Schools Committee, President of the 2nd Ward Primary Assn. Member of the LDS church, Membership Chrm. of the Milford Mil-ford Industrial Foundation, and a member of the Community Education Council. Enocdh Swain Enoch Swain is the only incumbent in-cumbent councilman on the ballot. He was appointed to the office three years ago to replace re-place the deceased Wes Bolton. Nick, as he is called, is 39; he and his wife Wilna have two daughters, Laura 10, and Nan-nette, Nan-nette, 7. Nick's pet projects include in-clude working with the youth of the communtiy and he is the Chairman of the Milford City Youth Committee, Director Direct-or of the Community School, W John R. "Bus" Hardy John R. "Bus" Hardy, 60, was born in Salt Lake City, is a widower and has lived in Milford since 1939, except for a few years right after the second world war. His wife, Betty, passed away eight years ago in 1963. Bus is a locomotive engineer and has worked with the UP Railroad for 32 years. He belongs be-longs to the B. of L. E., member of the LDS church and he says his hobby is fiddling around with carpenter work. |
