Show Basketball gets underway this week. Now maybe I can start to recognize a few faces whr.n I see them on the street. I've had a heck of a time telling tell-ing -who these kids were without with-out a number on their back. Faces are awfully hard to distinguish dis-tinguish with a football helmet and face guard obstructing the view. o Stan McKnight, Minersville was in and said he and his wife Lillian attended a Utah Stars basketball game last week and lucked out, by winning tickets to all the remaining games. Stan says he didn't know how many friends he had until he came home with all those tickets. tick-ets. Don't imagine many of them will go to waste. Basketball is right down Stan's line He was the coach of the 1927 Minersville High School Basketball team that wo.n the state title that year, and represented the State of Utah in the National Tournament Tourna-ment in Chicago, sponsored by the University of Chicago. By the way that state title was for the whole ball of wax, there were no divisions such as there are now. o There are some excellent buys on the market around town this week and it will pay you to look at the ads in this issue of the News. Altman's has a special purchase pur-chase Thanksgiving sale that is a lulu. Right down the street is Sam's Furniture's big 25th Anniversary Sale with lots of free prizes and some real special spec-ial bargains. The News has a little special spec-ial all its own and last but not least, Jefferson's looks like Ole Saint Nick's workshop just before be-fore he packs his bag. All in all you can't do better than shopping right here at hpme with the folks that know you and care. And remember, the best place to start your Christ-mag Christ-mag shopping is right here, with the advertisers you'll find in the pages of the Beaver County News. Letter from Mrs. Kenneth Barton says that the Dr. Walter M. Gibson, who discovered a "New Method to Measure Time" article in last weeks paper is her brother. o Nice letter from "Babe" Ruth former owner of the B and J Club and now heading up an Odd Fellows home in Ogden.
