Show UTAH STATE U WILL STUDY UTAH'S LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY Utah's Governor Calvin L. Rampton was today informed in-formed by the Four Corners Regional Commission that a $20,000 technical assistance funding grant had been awarded Utah State University, for a feasibility study t'-e li esfork i-durtrv in Uttih Governor Rampton was the major sponsor of the feasibility study as it was proposed to the Four Corners Regional Commission Com-mission at its recent alternate's meeting in Santa Fe, N. M. The primary objective of ihe study would be in increase farm income, reduce out-migration, stabilize the economy of the region, to determine the feasibility of expanding the feeding of cattle and lambs in the area, and of locating on; or more meat packing plants in the immediate region. The livestock producers in Utah face increased costs and reduced profits because a high percentage of the sheen and study should produce a comprehensive com-prehensive plan for the establishing estab-lishing of feed lot centers and moat packing plants in the area. Howe, executive director di-rector of the Four Corners Regional Re-gional Commission, said, "This grant to Utah State University should produce some very significant sig-nificant results that will benefit bene-fit the rural livestock producers produc-ers in all cf the four states of the region. Utah State will make a merchandising mer-chandising market study of the 21 Utah counties in the region, but also the report would be applicable to the three other states in the region. This |
