Show HENRY ROPERS TO BE FETED CN ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Henry Roper will be honored by their children chil-dren at an open house, Saturday, Satur-day, July 6, in observance of their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Anni-versary. The gala affair will be held in the LDS Cultural Hall between be-tween 8 and 11 p. m. There will be a program and dancing. danc-ing. Mr. and Mrs. Roper request no gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Roper were married April 24, 1918, at Oak City, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They lived on a small farm for about nine years ,then Mr. Roper accepted employment with the Union Pacific Railroad, Rail-road, working at Lynndyl, Cal-liente Cal-liente and Milford. He retired in December, 1966. - - - - Mr. Roper was born March 26, 1899, in Oak City, to Abea M. and Rachel Rawlinson Roper. Rop-er. He married Jessie Mae Sheriff, April 24, 1918, in Oak City. They moved to Milford in December, 1950. A member of the LDS Church, he has held the positions posi-tions of Sunday School superintendent, super-intendent, Beaver Stake missionary, mis-sionary, and High Priest. He is a member of the B of R C of A, and was financial secretary of Star of the West Local 1169. Jessie Mae Sheriff Roper was born Aug. 12, 1896, in Pickens County, So. Carolina, to Whiteford and Martha Ann McNeely Sheriff. She also is a member of the LDS Church. They have five children, Mrs. Verla Kellogg, Dixon, Calif.; Mrs. Wilma Spring, La-Sal, La-Sal, Utah; Burns Roper, Ruth, Nev.; Mrs. Retha Campeau, Milford, and Merrill Roper, Ely, Nev. They also have 15 grandchildren. |
