Show DUCKS, GEESE, ON INCREASE IN UTAH Annual winter waterfowl censuses on Utah marshes show ample numbers of ducks, geese and other waterfowl wintering within the Beehive State. Counts conducted Jan. 3 thru 6 totaled 71,775 ducks, 2,825 Canada geese, 2,379 whistling . swans and 5,480 coots for a combined wintering population of 82,452 birds. The counts, conducted jointly joint-ly by personnel from State and Federal agencies, showed the current winter population to be up by nearly 20,000 birds from last year's total wintering winter-ing population of 62,616. |
