Show This Week in MINERS VILLE as reported by GWEN PRYOR O The Literary Club put on their annual "Minstrel Show" Monday, Nov. 18. Everyone enjoyed the performance very much. After the show the cast had a party and invited their husbands for ice cream and cake. Many of the husbands hus-bands participated in the show. Justin and Kenneth Gray, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Gray, were awarded special "Duty to God" Scout awards in sacrament services Sunday evening. Bryant Eyre, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Eyre, celebrated his eighth birthday with a party on Nov. 15. Heber and Clark Gillins were honored at a joint birthday birth-day party Sunday evening at the home of Heber and Emily Gillins. Pie and ice cream were served to Mr. and Mrs Clark Gillins, Mr. and Mrs. Ty Gillins, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gillins, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Eyre, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Eyre, Mrs. Daisy Gillins, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Eyre and Mr. and Mrs. ' Jerry Eyre. 9 Susan Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers held their monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Lucy Williams on Friday, Fri-day, Nov. 15. 6 Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gillespie, who formerly rented the old Mervin Edwards home, are now residents of the Parowan rCtst Home. 0 Mr. and Mrs. Tex Marshall spent several days last week visiting in Las Vegas. 9 Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baker of Paradise visited here briefly brief-ly last week, calling on many friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pryor were in Salt Lake last week on business. En route home they visited their son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wade Hodge and family, and Mrs. Amanda Nolder, who is visiting there. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carter spent the week end in Salt Lake on business. Returning home with them Sunday was Mrs. Edith Bradfield, who had been up north visiting her grandchildren. The Father-Son Banquet held Saturday, Nov. 16, in the Min-ersville Min-ersville L D S recreation hall was a great success. Guest speaker was Brooks Poulson of Beaver; Karl Truman was master mas-ter of ceremonies, and others on the program were Gloria Craw, piano selection; Ronn and Tim Marshall, vocal duet. Elaine Marshall, Kathy Truman, Tru-man, Adele Gillins and Joan Pryor, group dance; and Calvin Eyre, accordian solo. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Davis and small son of Salt Lake are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Davis, this week. Spending the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Del-bert Del-bert Jameson, ,was their son Allen, who is attending an electronics elec-tronics school in Salt Lake. Allen celebrated his birthday while here, on Nov. 18. The American Legion Auxiliary Auxil-iary started a savings stamp program on Friday, Nov. 15. The Auxiliary, in cooperation with Minersville School Principal Prin-cipal Mrs. Lillian McKnight and the P.-T. A. will sell stamps each Friday at 1 p. m. Students of the C S U home for the week end were Kenneth Hollingshead, Richard Albrecht, Mary Lou Bradfield and Becky Davis. Mrs. Lucy Williams, our town librarian, has certainly made a big improvement to the study room. She painted and scrubbed all day Saturday to make the library a cleaner, more suitable place for our children to study in. We are all grateful for such a conscientious consci-entious public worker. Last week I failed to mention men-tion that Mrs. Ella Wood was among the Minersville residents who traveled to Las Vegas to attend funeral services for Harold Har-old Jameson. Mrs. Betty Murie and children of Cedar City stayed with George until Ella returned home. Mrs. Armina Banks is again a patient in the Iron County Hospital, where she underwent under-went eye surgery on Nov. 13. We all wish her a speedy recovery. re-covery. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Bohn of Las Vegas are visiting friends and relatives in town this week. Mr. and Mrs. Jule Gillins also motored to Las Vegas last week to attend the funeral. |
