Show Milford Airport Saves Planes Two more airplane pilots added their names Sunday to the growing list of aviators who are thankful that the Milford Mil-ford airport is so handy . . . when trouble arises. . A trio en route from Las Vegas to Rapid City, So. Dakota, Dako-ta, and a Flying Doctor from Idaho Falls, Idaho, each landed at the Milford airport without mishap after trouble developed. James T. Johnston, flying from Las Vegas to Rapid City with his wife and Floyd Hesler as passengers, after attending a Shrine gathering, were flying at 11,000 feet when their magneto mag-neto quit working, almost directly di-rectly over the airport. They spiraled down and landed, and Gil Souza, airport manager and mechanic at Cedar City, flew over to Install a new generator, generat-or, brought by plane from Salt Lake. While Mr. Souza was working work-ing on the Johnston plane, a plane piloted by Dr. Harper Culley of Idaho Falls, landing at Milford for the Civil Defense De-fense Fly-in, developed generator gener-ator trouble as he was in the landing pattern, and taxied his plane to the parking area with the generator screaming a siren wail. The generator was disconnected discon-nected and Dr. Culley and a passenger, Dr. J. W. Corbet, also of Idaho Falls, returned after the meetings on magneto and a full-charged battery. |
