Show Perry Sorensen Named Journalism Head at U The Board of Regants at the ' University of Utah has announ- ced that Prof. Parry D. Sorensen, Soren-sen, Director of Public Relations at the University, has been appointed ap-pointed Acting Head of the Department of Journalism. Professor Sorensen will replace re-place Dr. Quintus C. Wilson, who resigned to accept a new post as Dean of the School of Journalism at the University of West Virginia. Virgin-ia. Professor Sorensen, a graduate grad-uate of the University of Utah, obtained a Master's Degree in Journalism at Northwestern University Uni-versity and has completed extensive ex-tensive graduate work at other institutions of higher learning. During his journalistic career, he has worked as a writer for three major newspapers, including includ-ing The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Examiner and The Deseret News. Professor Sorensen has traveled travel-ed extensively in England and Europe. He worked with the Federal Fed-eral Bureau of Investigation from 1942-1945, and has been Director Direct-or of Public Relations at the University since 1946. He also taught journalism on the U campus camp-us each year since 1946. The well-known Utah educator educat-or is a member of Sigma Delta Del-ta Chi, National Professional Journalism Fraternity. He will continue as Director of the Public Relations Department of the University Uni-versity as well as assuming his new duties as Head of the Journalism Journ-alism Department. |
