Show 9 buntia' Qui 9 mil By STEVE WILLIAMS Kizer and Brimbcrry and Bert Mcrryweather are back from their cow-chasing expedition out West and from the stories Mike and Bert tell, Kizer oughta be gad to get away from that wild, wild kind of country. Seems Ray got to bragging about his early (much earlier) days when he was a cowpoke instead of a politician, and got challenged to put on a bulldogging exhibition. There wasn't any way to get out of it so Ray picked out the gentlest looking cow he could find, kicked Old Paint in the ribs and with a war whoop and a couple of hollers hol-lers took off after old Bossy. Only trouble was, Bossy was too gentle and lay down for a nap about the lime Kizer started his flying trapeze act, and horsie and Bossy and Ray wound up in a, tangle of legs, arms, hooves and horns, with Ray on top. So next day, as soon as Hizzoner could get the creaks out of his bones they headed for Milford. But Mrs. Brimbcrry and Dorothy and Toni Lynne and LeAn Erick-son Erick-son had a fine feed out of the trip before Ray got his cowboy ideas. They drove out to the camp Tuesday Tues-day evening and had a swell camp feed. Said it was almost as good as a T-bone at the Hong Kong. Start Planning! Thursday, Oct. 15, is Milford High School's annual Homecoming Homecom-ing Day, with a football game in the evening (7:30), a mammoth pep assemby in the morning, and the big, big Homecoming Dance after the game. Wonder if we'll ever get back the good postal service we used to have for Milford. Dunno about the complaints of other Milford merchants, but it seems they're really picking on us. Thursday we phoned Salt Lake to order some film packs we needed for Friday morning photo taking. Friday they hadn't arrived, so we delayed the picture taking until Saturday, and the film still wasn't here. Monday it arrived. The package was postmarked Thursday but evidently didn't start its truck joyride around the state that night but was held over in the Salt Lake postoffice and dispatched dis-patched Friday. The Wyckoff truck that joyrides the mail from Provo to Beaver was late, and arrived ar-rived in Beaver after the Rich-field-to-Milford truck had left. So, it laid over in Beaver from Saturday Satur-day morning until Monday morning morn-ing before finally getting here. If the postoffice department was still using direct Union Pacific for transportation to Milford, instead in-stead of three different trucks and a lot of extra miles, we'd have had the package delivered on time, Friday morning. |
