Show Beaver Lions Planning Record-Breaking Dairy District Race Meet After cooperating generously in helping to put over an eminently successful 49ers Celebration in Milford and probably the biggest Independence Day observance in Minersville's century-long history, members of the Beaver Lions club and others are now hard at work on preparations for Beaver's own special annual event: the Dairy District Derby and three-day Race Meet. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Satur-day, July 23, 24, and 25, are the days scheduled for the big event, aimed to be the center of attraction attrac-tion for all Southern Utah for this year's Pioneer Day week-end. Plans for a a fitting observance of Utah's natal day on Friday, July 24, are a little further advanced than others, as will be seen by the story featuring that day appearing in another column; but, with interest inter-est and activity gaining speed every ev-ery day, this year's Race Meet will be found measuring up in every way to the big shows ror which i this community is famous throughout through-out the West. At least 20 fast horses have been nominated for the featured Dairy District Derby, to be run on Saturday, Satur-day, the final day of the meet, and for which there will be a purse of up to $1000, which is pretty big money in anyone's language. But there will be plenty of fast horseflesh horse-flesh and fast races every afternoon, after-noon, according to Rex Packard, general racing chairman, who is thoroughly alert to the importance of continuing to stage meets that will not disappoint anyone even the most rabid race fan. Complete information concerning concern-ing the various features of the three-day celebration are expected to be available for next week. In the meantime, the watchword in Beaver is work work work!
