Show Jim Lewis Makes Last Mail Run "Rajn or Shine, the mail must go through," was the 'policy of James Lewis, rural mail carrier between Milford and Beaver, who retired July 1 after 12 years' service. ser-vice. Dick Davis of Minersville succeeded suc-ceeded Mr. Lewis as contract carrier car-rier of the mails. Mr. Lewis, aiOheerful, friendly man, has been unusually accommodating accommo-dating to the people of Beaver County during his 12 years as mail carrier, and has "hauled everything every-thing from eggs to flowers." Every day, except Sundays and holidays, Mr. Lewis' left Milford about 7 a. m, taking the mail to the Beaver post office and serving Minersville and Greenville en route, as well as several R F D boxholders. Prior to starting his work as mail carrier, Mr. 'Lewis worked for Brooklawn Creamery for 24 years, with assignments dn Kamas, Oakley, Panguitch and Beaver. 'He was born in Woodland, Oct. 27, 1892, and educated in the Wasatch Was-atch schools. He married Maude Johnson of Holden, Dec. 29, 1916, in the Salt Lake Temple. They have one son, Max Lewis, now living liv-ing in Orem, and three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Hollingshead, Salt Lake; Mrs. Helen Ashworth, of Kearns, and Mrs. Betty Smith, Beaver. They have 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. |
