Arvil's been worrying about Milford getting flooded out when the heavy runoff starts from the Beaver Mountains, and beating the drum for a flood control program which would divert water over the Milford Flat, and Wednesday the State Engineer's office announced just such a project, and it's under way. The genial cafe proprietor wasn't worried about his own welfare, but says he used to live in Milford and still likes the folks in the west end of the county, and he just didn't want to see 'em washed away. Always put off till tomorrow tomor-row what you shouldn't do at all. The Beaver Jaycees have scheduled their annual Clean-up and Paint-up week for May 4th to 10th, and have scheduled Thursday, May 8th, as the date when stores will close and trucks will be furnished to haul trash from the alleys and curbs, after residents have deposited their trash, etc., in containers which can be handled by the truck crews. Gale Edwards of Milford has been named secretary o'f the Pi Rho Omega Sorority at C S U, and was one of the arrangers for the annual Pi Rho Omega spring formal, held April 16 at Cedar City's Airport Cafe. Gossip is saying nothing in s a way that leaves nothing unsaid. Like we've said before, the undertaker takes care of the doctor's mistakes, the lawyer sends his to Point of the Mountain, Moun-tain, but we print ours and get "told off." Last week it was Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Handley, instead of-the of-the J.C. Hanleys who entertained the R. E. Ellingsworths from California, and they visited the Herb Fowlers (not Fowles) in Salt Lake. Next time we'll just say "Bud" Handley and everyone every-one will know who we're talking talk-ing about. Smart people may speak from experience; smarter people, from experience, don't speak. Plenty o'f activity over Beaver Beav-er way, with even the Mayor ramrodding a gravel truck getting get-ting all their streets graveled and ready for the spring oiling program. We'll be shooting pictures of the work Monday, so all you photogenic citizens who want to help Mayor Martedl do a Ray Kizer act, be on hand to get into the picture. Only requirement re-quirement is that everyone in " the photo has to be helping spread gravel, so bring your shovels. And Mayor Ray gets another letter this week about the Milford Mil-ford street oiling program. The Mayor of Sandy, up near Salt Lake, wants to know how he dood it. The .Milford street oiling oil-ing deal, completed with cooperation co-operation of the city council and property owners, has created creat-ed quite a batch of questions and answers from over the state. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Chrisr tensen ain't very happy. The Milford Seminary principal just finished plantnig a lawn at his new home, built last year, and now he gets word he's to be transferred to Cedar City in the fall, where he'll be in charge of the Cedar City Seminary. Railroaders, AT&T employees em-ployees and Seminary principles prin-ciples have to expect that, tho. Note to Supt. Walters, who held down the chief's job at the C A A when Milford had an Airways Communication Station,. is back e in town, holding down one of the softer easy chairs in the Horn Silver Hotel lobby. Walt says he'd like to move back to Milford from Delta, now that he's retired, and maybe go linto the insurance business or some other occupation that ain't so straining on the carcass.
