NEW MEMBERS NAMED FOR BREEDING ASS'N Jeff Marshall, Ralph Pearson, Pear-son, Noel Wood and Vern Wood have been elected to the Minersville Miners-ville branch of the Cache Valley Val-ley Breeding Ass'n. Previous officers were Ralph Pearson, president; Jeff Marshall, Mar-shall, vice president; and Darwin Dar-win Marshall, secretary. COMMITTEE TO PURCHASE ORGAN A special committee was selected se-lected this week to secure funds for purchase of a new organ for the Minersville Ward chapel. Harold Baker was named chairman, and members are Mrs. Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Truman, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Myers, My-ers, Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Gray, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Robinson. Rob-inson. The commitee will visit each family in the ward seeking donations, do-nations, and it is expected to have the organ installed in time for the February Conference. Pfc Ray Gillins left Wednes--i day 'for his army base after spending 22 days with his wie, Beverly, and small daughter at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jule Gillins. Pfc. Gillins will be released in June, after two years of military service. Minersville students returning return-ing to college this week included includ-ed Clark Carter, Earl Horton, Raul Pearson and Michael Mc-Knight, Mc-Knight, C S U students, and Eve McKnight, B Y U. Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Marshall, Mar-shall, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Barton of Beaver, have been visiting their children, chil-dren, Mr. and Mrs. Val Mar- ' shall, in Atwater, Calif., where Val is stationed with the U S Air Force. En route they visited visit-ed Mrs. Marshall's mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Hor-ace Corbridge, in Ridgecrest. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Russell Guyman in Torrance, Calif. Jimmy Williams has reported to Fort Ord, Calif., for a 15-day National Guard training period. Mrs. Williams went to California Califor-nia with him, and will visit relatives rel-atives there. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Truman and two children went to Salt Lake on Friday. Accompanying them were Mrs. Gertrude Mar- (Continueu on Back Page) Mrs. Eulalia Davis went to Salt Lake Friday to visit Mrs. Rclha Beauthmount and do genealogical gen-ealogical research. Mrs. Varda Smith and Kay Banks arrived Monday to visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Banks. They will return re-turn to California, taking Mrs. Smith's daughter 1! ose m a r y with them. She has been stav ing with her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Sheral Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Gray were hosts Saturday night at a party held at the Carter home. Guests were Mr and Mrs. Thur-man Thur-man Eyre. Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Gillins, Mr. and Mrs. Heber Giilhi. Tuxedo was olaytd with Mrs. Eyre and Emily Gillins Gil-lins receiving the pri.se. Yvonne Murdock, Florence Wood. Lois Carter, Dorothy Wood and Donna Carter. Prizes went to Florence Wood, Lois Carter and Dorothy Wood. A plate lunch was served at the close of the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Stan McKnight returned Sunday after spending a week with their son and daughter in law.. Mr. and Mrs. David McKnight in California. They saw their new granddaughter grand-daughter for the first time. The ycung couple now have two daughters. Gayle, Maxine and Madeline, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Murdock, spent the week end in Beaver with their grandparents, grandpar-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Eawin Smith. granddaughter Janice. Marilyn Wood was the only girl from Minersville to enter the Make It Yourself With Wool contest this year. She entered a lovely wool skirt and weskit and received a special skirt marker for a prize. She entered en-tered the sub-deb division. Joe Fotheringham underwent surgery Monday in the Veterans Veter-ans Hospital. Mrs, Fotheringham Fothering-ham is with her husband in Salt Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Hollingshead Hol-lingshead were there from Wednesday Wed-nesday until Friday. Mrs. Effie Marshall accompanied accompa-nied Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baker to Beaver on Wednesday, to help their sister, Mrs. Sadie Cline, celebrate her birth anniversary. Mrs. Barbara Messinger and son Robert were here visiting Mrs. Effie Marshall a week during dur-ing the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jones and two girls were visitors Sun-da Sun-da at the home of her mother, Mrs. Effie Marshall. Mrs. Nellie Eyre accompanied accompa-nied her daughter, Mrs. Melva Eyre, home to Las Vegas Saturday. Satur-day. Mrs. Eyre and her daughter daugh-ter Elaine had spent a few days visiting in Salt Lake, and were en route home. Joseph Eyre underwent major ma-jor surgery Wednesday in the Provo Hospital. He was reported report-ed in serious condition following follow-ing the operation. The Canasta Club met at the home of Mrs. Leola Gillins on Monday night. Former Minersville resident Katherine Bowen, now of Salt Lake, suffered probable permanent perma-nent injuries in a sleigh riding accident on a Salt Lake street. Sleighing down a hill with her daughter, Mrs. Bowen (the former for-mer Katherine Rollins) covered the child with her body when a car backed out of a driveway in front of the sleigh. Her leg was badly crushed, and possibly permanently injured. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Knight, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Hunt and Mr. and Mrs. Walt Messinger of Cedar Ce-dar City, and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Marshall were all dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Effie Marshall. Mar-shall. I Mr. and Mrs. Max Carter drove to Salt Lake Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Rex Carter of Beaver. They planned to shop and return on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Blackburn of Moab arrived Tuesday to visit his parents, JVIr. and Mrs. Doug Blackburn, until Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Cooper and family of Milfor'fd were dinner, guests Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Blackburn. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Marshall Mar-shall were hosts at a New Year's Eve party at their home. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Newell Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Daisel Davis, Da-vis, and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Blackburn. S. Murdock were in Cedar City Tuesday to visit their son in law and daughter, daugh-ter, Mr. and Mrs. Mac Armstrong. Arm-strong. Gayle Murdock celebrated her seventh birthday on Tuesday. Tues-day. She had 36 guests, and her mother served birthday cake and ice cream. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Myers and children of Provo are here visiting vis-iting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Myers. o Mrs. Lucy Williams was host at a family dinner on New Year's Day. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Max Carter, Mr. and Mrs. John Williams. Mr. and Mrs. James Eyre, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Williams and David, Da-vid, and Frank. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dalton were in California from Sunday Sun-day to Thursday visiting Mr. and Mrs. George Dalton. Mr. Dalton has- been quite ill. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Tarry of Logan have a new baby girl. The maternal grandmother is Mrs. Eulalia Davis. The Terrys now have two daughters. |
