' ' I . - i Doug Memmolt 1 Doug Memmott Awarded Scholarship At Rotary Meet Expressions of gratitude from 75 Utah high school youths showered members of Salt Lake Rotary Club Tuesday as the civic club'slOth annual Youth Conference was concluded and 10 scholarship awards were made at Hotel Utah. Tired, but happy with experiences experi-ences encountered during the three-day conference, the youths headed for their homes in all parts of the state after the award luncheon. Scholarships worth $250 each at University of Utah were made by a committee headed by Dr. Kenneth B. Castleton. Douglas Memmott of, Milford, was one of the winners. Elmo R. Morgan, U of U business bus-iness vice president and featured fea-tured speaker at the Rotary luncheon honoring the youths, counselled the special guests to hold themselves "responsible for a higher standard than anyone any-one else expects of you." Doug has been an outstanding outstand-ing student at Milford High School, and has received many honors. Last year he was one of the Milford representatives at Boys State, and this year was named a finalist in the National Na-tional Merit Scholarship contest, receiving a certificate of merit from General Motors. He will act as chairman of the Milford delegation to the mock U N Assembly in Salt Lake. His essay, "I Speak for Democracy," was judged third best in the state. |
