Show Local Happenings JULY WEDDING Wc-st Jordan Stake Center was sotting Fridr.y evening, July G, for a wedding reception honoring honor-ing newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jtoland Jensen. The couple exchanged wedding Mr. and Mrs. Dean Ham and daughter LaDean just recently returned from a very enjoyable two weeks vacation to California and Oregon. While in California they stopped in Vallejo to see Russell Oyler who is stationed at nearby Alare Island. From there they continued on to Oregon Ore-gon where hey visited with Sarah Ellis and daughter Phoebe at Reedsport and Dean enjoyed some deep fishing. They also visited vis-ited at John Day, Ore., with Mr. and Mrs. Herman DcSouza and family and 'Mrs. DeSouza's father, fath-er, Stillman Nichols. Tuesday evening the county recreation workers of Bingham, Copperton and Lark held a farewell fare-well party for Janice Hocking at The Homestead near Heber. Besides Be-sides the honor guest those present pres-ent were Mr. and Mrs. Udell Wankier, Mr, and Mrs. Kenneth Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Pino, DelMar Schick, Mickey Culleton, Jeniel Boren, Jeanne Haus-knecht, Haus-knecht, Don Gust, Yvonne Sar-rao, Sar-rao, Connie Bianchi, Janell Hansen Han-sen and Rosalie Biklacich. Swimming, Swim-ming, a delicious chicken dinner and community singing comprised compris-ed the evening's entertainment. Here for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Congdon and family is their daughter, Patsy, and her guest, Miss Pat Munger of Mesa, Ariz. Both girls are in nurse's training at the Los Angeles County hospital at Los Angeles and now on a month's vacation. They spent a week in Arizona before coining here. Mr. and Mrs Congdon and family and Miss Munger left Thursday (yesterday) (yester-day) for a week's fishing at Island Is-land Park, Idaho. Mrs. B. Virginia Coray, Mrs. Virginia R. Saxton Seal, and Mrs Marie D. Brooks, teachers at Bingham Central School are vows earlier in the day in rites solemnized in the Manti Temple. Following the ceremony the bridegiooni's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin D. Jensen of Copperton, Cop-perton, Bingham Canyon, hosted a wedding breakfast in their honor at Manti. Mr. and Mrs. Leland D. Richardson, Rich-ardson, West Jordan, are parents oi the bride. The bride, former Miss Janice Richardson, greeted reception I guests in a gown of lace underscored under-scored with tulle and satin. It was styled with a Victorian col-jlar col-jlar and long sleeves tapering to i points over the wrists. The 'bouffant 'bouf-fant skint fell floor length. Her headdress released a fingertip-length fingertip-length veil and she carried a louquot of pink rosebuds and , white carnations. I In pastel taffeta gowns and 'carrying bouquets of pink and ! white carnations were attendants, attend-ants, Mrs. William Stanley Marshall, Mar-shall, Mrs. Paul L. Sioblom, Miss Sally Jean Beckftead, Miss Karen Kar-en 'BurkJnshaw and Miss Gayle Kidder. Pamela Jean Marshall and Mary Jane Winn, flower girls, were dressed in pink frocks. For the reception both mothers chose gowns in navy blue complimented com-plimented iby corsages of pink jand white carnations. i Lowell D. Entertaining at nrenuptial parities par-ities have been Miss Beckstead, Miss Burkinshaw and Miss 'Kidder. studying at the University of Utah this summer under one of the nation's top experts in the field of reading education. They are among some 65 persons enrolled en-rolled in Dr. William D. Sheldon's Shel-don's workshop in developmental reading which opened July 2nd and continues through July 20. Dr. Sheldon is director of the Reading Laboratory and chairman chair-man of the Improvement of Learning Program at Syracuse University. He is assisted by Mrs Mabel S. Noall, Uof U assistant professor of educational phychol-ogy. phychol-ogy. Dr. Sheldon said the workshop work-shop is divided irto two parts. The first part dealt with problems prob-lems of developmental reading from kindergarten through 12th grade levels. Much emphasis is placed upon research into developmental devel-opmental reading. During the second part of the workshop Mrs. Noa'll is conducting sessions dealing with teaching techniques on the secondary school level and Dr. Sheldon conducts a course in diagnosis and remediation. remedia-tion. "Persons who complete the workshop should be aible to take a child who has difficulty in reading on any level, determine what is wrong, isolate the specific spec-ific causes and begin treatment", Dr. Sheldon noted. |
