No. 7 NEWS OF THE GLASSES DEBATING STARTS The question for inter-class debates has been chosen by our coach after careful consideration. It is, "Resolved, that the Federal Government should own and continue to direct the railroads." This has proved to be an interesting subject and is the question chosen for intercollegiate debates throughout the entire country. Clarence Brown, debating manager, announced that the class debates will probably be held a week from tomorrow. The two upper and two lower classes will contest against each other and the two winning teams will fight it out for the championship and the right to engrave their numerals on the debating cup. Last year class '19 won the championship, but it is evident that the others are all trying for the same honor this year. Already considerable interest has been shown among the various classes in this intellectual activity. Previously, debating has not been given sufficient support, but now try-out contests are necessary among the classes to determine the respective representatives. This looks very encouraging and it is expected that some very good intellectual "scraps" will develop. Everyone out and give your debaters your support. GIRLS PLAY FOR CUP The inter-class series of girls' indoor baseball started last week with the game between the Sophs and Seniors. The interest of this game was held to the finish, as the Sophs ran up a score of 20 points in the last inning. The score was 31 to 20 in favor of the Sophs. The next noon the Freshmen won a decided victory over the Juniors. At each game a large crowd of rooters were present and we hope the interest will be retained to the end of the contests. The games yet to be played are as follows: Sops vs. Freshmen, Juniors vs. Seniors, Sophs vs. Juniors, and Seniors vs. Freshmen. The contests probably will be finished the first part of next week. A beautiful loving cup has been purchased by the Girls' Association and will be presented to the winning class. This cup will remain in the school to encourage girl athletics. HAVE YOU MADE THAT DATE FOR "MICE AND MEN?" The strong B. Y. C. team proved an easy nut to crack when Weber journeyed to Brigham to fight for the division championship. Possibly the "big head" was partly responsible for its easy defeat. The score of 34 to 19 tells the story. Kid Koko sez: "If some people could laugh as heartily when the joke is on them as they do when it is or. the other fellow, life would be as rosy as the paint on the maps of tin Freshman beauty squad." For en evening of real enjoyment 'Mice and Men" April 1 and 2, 1919. Joe Brewer, on his way to the tournament in his fliv, as it breaks down for the steenth time, "Ye Gods, my kingdom for a horse." We certainly appreciate the friendliness and support given our team by the East Side High school and the University of Utah at the recent games. We extend our sincere thanks to those who helped root our team to victory. A large party of Weber girls spent the .week end in Sjt Lake City witnessing the games.' Rumor has it that they were unable to stay in a hotel for more than one night. When such hotels as the ones at which they stopped objected to their "parties" looks awful bad, girls. A maiden who lived in Schoharie Was in a great hurry to marry; But after the wedding She found such hard sledding, She cried, "Now in Reno I'll tarry! Ruth Cora, why is the world like a boy scout? Cora I don't know; why? Ruth Because it does one good turn daily." Jack I want a bottle of vaseline for my pompadour." Druggist Scented or unscented? Jack Oh thank you, I'll take it with me. A maiden who lives in Shenango Thought she'd take a wee fling at the tango; When she flew in the air And lost her back hair, She said, "Goodness! where did my bang go?"
