THE EDITOR Piersanti Bachelors Sponsor School Paper Under the sporsorship of the Bachelors club, the Herald, extinct since last year, has again become a campus reality. The Bachelors, with a fine burst of school spirit appointed Ralph Berrett of Ogden editor, manager, and a committee cf one to look after the details. Mr. Berrett was also given fu l I financial responsibility. With the aid of Jack Bennett and the sane- . tion of the Board of Controls, t-b" ' editor went forward with the work, secured a printer, and began to seil advertising. Late this week the paper was edited, managed and the details looked after and sa'd paper went to press. The financial responsibility fell. The printer was ; paid. In fact, we may say th?.t the paper was a nnancial success. The paner will have a circulation of about 800, of which students, faculty, and others connected with the school will receive sor,"e 700. The rest will be handed cut at random to various civic clubs and to patrons and staunch supporters of the school. Each advertiser will also receive a copy. The paper his been wi:lely discussed by the big brains of the i i-stitution and has drawn much comment both favorable and adverse. Kleon Kerr, student vu cedent, declared: "Undoubtably i' will be a fine thir'g for the school. However " he added, "faculty censorship must be limited to a higher decree than before. Leland H. Monson, head of th " English deoartment entertained ihc same opinion, "However," he said, "faculty supervision would be wholesome under the circumstances." Much adverse criticirm was di'awn from numerous "it can't be done-ers." Students- are asked to place all news in the hands of one of the staff members. Later a box will he placed in the gymnasium lobby, in which items can be dropped. In order to be published in the Tuesday edition of the paper, articles will of necessity have to be in hv Friday neon of each week. Club and department repoi'ters and c!as secretaries are asked to hand their reports directly to the editor "CHEERFUL AND BEERFUL" Italian Dishes Light Lunches Sandwiches " Spaghetti Ravioli -:- BEER-:-150 25th Street Phone 4250 |
