Show 4 Orientation WWW.WSUSIGNP0ST.COM Greetings from WSU Student Association Dear Wildcats, On behalf of the Weber State University Student Association, I want to extend you a warm welcome to Weber State! Whether you're a returning student or are a new freshman . . . you're at the right place. I hope you all had a refreshing summer and are ready to conquer the next chapter of your life. There are a few things I want you to know coming into this academic year. Every student is a part of the Weber State University Student Association (WSUSA). WSUSA is the lifeblood of the university, with so many extracurricular activities to engage in. You decide whether your college experience will be something that you'll cherish for the rest of your lives or not. If you will find something outside of the classroom, whether it be a club, organization, athletics, service or leadership, I promise your experience will be unforgettable. Being involved since I was a freshman has changed my life. A wise man once said, "Don't let schoolwork get in the way of your education." Your student body officers and I are excited to announce our theme for the year. We chose believe. This will mean something different to each one of you, and I want you to embrace it and believe in yourself, the faculty, the programs and this remarkable university . . . believe in Weber! There is no one that can hold you back from accomplishing your dreams but you. I am here to help you, and if there is anything I can do to make your experience at Weber better, let's talk Very best, Andrew Gardiner WSU student body president Andrew Gardiner President Who is Michael Diamond? Where does he come from? Why is he here? Since Weber State's humble beginning in 1889, they have catered well to their students' needs. As far as education goes, the bar was set early, and it was set high in this great campus. But it has evolved into something more. Weber State now has a lifestyle. The events and happenings that have created this environment are driven by the students. The students fill the stage. Without them there would be no lifestyle. Michael Diamond is the man behind the curtain running the show. Born and raised in the great state of Utah, he is here to stay. You can expect change for the better when it comes to Weber State's events and activities. Mandie Barnes Leadership vice president Service is an opportunity, not an obligation; at least, that's what I live by. I'm a Wildcat who truly loves purple - but not because I'm obligated to. I'm a junior, majoring in communications with family and interpersonal emphasis, and hope to one day open my own adoption agency. I look forward to sharing and spreading my passion for service in the upcoming year! I think it would be an understatement to say that I love Weber. This place has become my home, and I am thrilled to say that I go to Weber State. I love opportunity, getting inspired and challenging myself to accomplish my dreams. I'm studying accounting with a minor in Spanish and plan to get an MBA when I graduate. I have lived by a couple quotes during college so far: "Don't let schoolwork get in the way of your education" and "life is good." Some of the most brilliant pieces of advice! I enjoy teams, business, cycling, wakeboarding, Lake Powell, family and a good Orange Tulius on a hot day. I love people and believe that there is something to learn from everyone you come in contact with. I would like to meet you, so say hi next time we cross paths! Michael Diamond Programming vice president Brady Harris Legislative vice president I am a sophomore here at Weber State. I am an elementary education major and a creative writing minor. I LOVE school, so I guess that makes me a nerd. I also love traveling, although I've never been out of the country. I am very creative and can make just about anything look good with a little modge podge. Yes, my hair is naturally curly and I despise it with every inch of my body. On a brighter note, Weber State is the best school in the universe. Basically, I'm just really happy to be here. Hey there, it's Mandie Sweet as Candy! I am a cosmetologist and public relations major by day, a world traveler when it's not breaking the bank, and a leader at heart. I come from a family of all sisters, but that doesn't mean I'm not adventurous. I am a girly girl who's not afraid to get her feet dirty and doesn't take life too seriously. Not to mention I can beat anyone in a handstand contest. Leadership to me is all about service and helping others grow while learning about yourself along the way. I am proud to call myself a Wildcat and can't wait to show you why you should be too! If you think I should change anything, let me know! Julia Saxton Service vice president Abelardo Saucedo Clubs and organizations vice president My favorite comedians are Chris Tucker, Katt Williams and Dave Chappelle. I'm proud to say I'm a California girl! I love kicking back with friends and family over a bonfire. One of my goals in life is to meet George Lopez. My current favorite artist would have to be, hands down, Nicki Minaj. Student involvement is near and dear to my heart. I love the energy that comes from students who take pride in their school. Hello there! My name is Brady Harris and I am president ofthe Student Senate this year. I'm a junior studying public administration, graduated from Tuab High, and went to SUU for a few years before realizing that Weber had much more to offer! Although WSUSA is my life, when I do have free time I enjoy the outdoors, especially night hikes, sports, photography, and driving around endlessly. I've traveled most of the country and every major city, I'm an avid Office and Psych fan, love the Bourne series, and enjoy causing shenanigans. Most of all, I enjoy serving all of you in the Student Senate and have been doing it for five years. Why? Well, because what else is there? Mindy Chamberlin Diversity and unity vice president "You can do anything you put your mind to" is a motto I try to live by. I love the color green, eating different foods, interacting with people from all walks of life, WSU, volleyball, talking business-related ideas, politics, making sure my voice is heard, my religion and being around successful people. I am majoring in accounting, with three semesters left. I want to attend a top-five MBA program after working for two years. I want to become a corporate executive and get into consulting and management after finishing my MBA. I love my family and friends that have become family. I am thrilled to see what my future has in store, as well as the people around me. life is great! k Alexis Marquez Davis campus vice president believe Be engaged with WSUSA |
