Show GRADUATION - FALL 2010 8 Wednesday, December 1,2010' Army continued from page 3 recommendation, made phone calls and even spoke face to face with the Army's medical surgeons. In April, Krishnan received his last treatment. After about a year of documenting Krishnan's health and going through the medical review process, the Army found Krishnan fit to serve. McVeigh's decision to undergo the yearlong process to clear Krishnan was not hard. "When we have a cadet who faces adversity with strength and courage as he did, then you really want to push for them," McVeigh said. Over the last two years, 18 students have dropped out of the ROTC program. The majority of that number resulted from failure to keep up with the program's expectations. Krishnan has not only exceeded those expectations, but also is one of the few cancer victims allowed to commission. Krishnan belonged to the top 20 percent of all cadets in the nation, McVeigh said. McVeigh also affirmed Krishnan's commitment to the Army. "He knows what he is doing, he knows where he is going, he knows what he wants to get done," McVeigh said. But for the short time he has been back, that score is getting closer to where it used to be. He stated that to get back in shape, he has been working out six days a week. "If I am going to finish something I am going to finish it," he said. Krishnan will commission Dec. 10 into the Army Nursing Corps.
