From there, the Wildcats never looked back, as the Bears' shooting from the floor went cold and WSU couldn't seem to miss. Fueled by shut-down play from Wildcat forward Caitlin Anderson, WSU outrebounded UNC in the second half 26-13. Anderson, the Big Sky Conference's leading rebounder, finished with a game-high 17 rebounds, along with 16 points "We've improved our second half," Taylor said. "They are more confident and they know 20 minutes is a long time. We start every second half with a score of 0-0 and we just take it one possession at a time." WSU won the second-half score 45-26. Along with Anderson, WSU guard Tonya Schnibbe recovered from a tough first half in which she hit zero shot attempts and only scored one point on a free throw. In the second half, Schnibbe revved up her motor, and hit five out of ten shot attempts, scoring 18 of her team-high 19 points. "Obviously the two warriors of the game were Caitlin and Tonya," Taylor said. "They just played incredible on both ends of the court. Caitlin had another monster game with those 17 rebounds." The win marks WSU's third straight conference win since suffering an eight-game losing streak in which the Wildcats started Big Sky play 0-6. WSU is now 3-6, and is still very much alive in the race for a postseason birth. "We still have a lot of work to do and a lot to improve on," Taylor said. "Every game is a chance to continue turning this season around and if we continue with our physical play, especially in the post, we can do some good things before this season is over." Woodland and the Wildcats open up the spring season at theThunderbird Invitational on Feb. 9. return to tournament action from Mar. 16-17 at the USF Triumph in Pauma Valley, California, hosted by the University of San Francisco. After that, they head to the Anteater Invitational hosted by the University of California, Irvine, on Mar. 30 in Laguna Niguel, California. "If we can go down to Southern Utah and play well I think that will give us some confidence heading into this spring season," Herzog said. "We need to realize that it will take us a few holes to get into a rhythm and once we do that we need to attack pins." The tournament takes place at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George, even though the tournament is hosted by Southern Utah University. "Playing a course like Sunbrook is a real challenge, but it's also a chance for us to test where we are," Woodland said. "Playing this course is like playing target golf. You either hit it in the fairway, or you are in the desert looking for your bail." This will be the second straight year the Wildcats kick off the season playing at Sunbrook, so it is a course the team is somewhat familiar with. "We're excited about the spring season," Herzog said. "This is an opportunity for us to start off on the right foot and start making a push for higher finishes at these tournaments. We're good enough to do it, now we just need to go out and do it."
