The Chinese program is very different from WSU. Teachers give lectures and have very minimal student participation, whereas students here are encouraged to read ahead in order to be prepared. "We want to know the teaching methods and techniques," Li Ping said. "Everyone we have met is very nice and we can't wait to see the hospital." After the fall semester, the Chinese faculty members will return to China and set up a course to instruct the students on the art of respiratory therapy. This will make it possible for students to learn not how to use the equipment, but how to perform the techniques and methods implemented in the United States. WSU will return to China in July of 2009. Gardiner said she felt this would be very nice because they were rushed to teach the seminar last time and couldn't spend much time learning about Chinese culture. Now, like ali WSU students, the Chinese representatives are starting their fourth week at WSU. "After the first week it became a little easier," Xue Ying Li said. "We arc having a good time." "I think the final product is going to be a jewel in the center of campus," said Jim Harris, WSU Campus Development Manager with Facilities Management. "It's going to be a much greener space than before. Our intention is to saturate the area with wi-fi to encourage people to come to campus and bring students to that area." The construction was expected to be completed by Dec. 8, however the project is a full month ahead of schedule, and Harris said they expect it to be finished as early as Nov. 5. "I think people are going to love the appearance of the campus overall," Harris said. "Especially by next spring." Stacie Gamer, a WSU senior said she will be glad when the construction is over. "I look forward to it being so environmentally friendly," Garner said. "Compared to the cement jungle that it was before. I'm excited for it to be finished, I think it will be nice to have a cool place to study and hang out with friends." All of the construction projects on campus, excluding the Hurst center next to Promontory Tower, will be finished this year. The bell tower plaza has a cost of $4 million, however not a single penny of the cost is billed to WSU. "Three million is coming from a generous gift from the Stewart Education Foundation," Tarbox said. "You'll recognize that name 'Stewart,1 also being on the bell tower itself. So the family who helped to build the bell tower originally, are helping us to relandscape. Ogden City offers a wide variety of outdoor activities to locals and visitors, with close ski resorts, hiking and projects like the controversial ice tower, which is gaining attention, all contributing to Ogden's growing reputation. "I just love these sports," Lowe said, "and the people who do them. I think Ogden is a perfect place for this kind of festival and I hope this grows into something where people will come from around the country to Ogden to attend." Along with the filmmakers and Ogdenites on opening night, WSU students and alumni were scattered throughout the crowd. TheWSUWilderness Recreational Program opened a booth to promote its own programs and services with the outdoors. "I'm into the outdoors," said Wilderness Recreation employee James Provence, "so to see someone kayaking, rock climbing or doing something crazy is awesome, even inspiring." Byck said she hopes all outdoor enthusiasts will continue to bring their ethusiasum to downtown Ogden. "Ogden is trying to make itself known as an outdoor Mecca," Byck said.
