Show Friday, April 8,2005 The Signpost Page 6 Hunger continued from page 5 Orchesis Hunger, wouldcosthim $250,000 to $300,000 to produce. "Since I couldn't create the large pieces, I scaled my pieces down smaller," Hunger said. Hunger's work is scaled down to 1/187 of what he envisions his art. "Since I can't make it large like I want, I make littlefiguresof people and put them around the work so you can get an idea of how big it really is," Hunger said. Hunger is known for taking his larger art and breaking it down to smaller pieces. "I don't have a problem breaking down my art," Hunger said. "Once I take a picture of it, I've captured the significance of the piece and 1 really don't have to have it anymore." Hunger's sculptures can be seen Wednesdays and Thursdays 6 to 8 p.m, Fridays 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays noon to 9 p.m. In addition, appointments for Jim Craig and Chris Philion. "I think the audience will find the lighting design just spectacular," Sowerby said. Contrasting the playfulness of the works of Stern and Sowerby will be Arlgie Banchero Keileher's work, composed to the music of Phillip Glass. "She's done a very, kind of a dark piece," Stern said. "It's very wonderful but a little tense. There's an undercurrent of religious fervor, but it's not overt. I think it's kind of an ode to some of the narrower side to religious fervor." Orchesis will also present "In the Mist," by Raymond Van Mason, adjunct ballet professor, director of Imagine Ballet Theatre and a former principal dancer for Ballet West. Through each piece, those pleasant and those tense, this concert will be an opportunity to interpret music and movement on a very individual level. "Keep your mind open; this is more abstract," Sowerby said. "You'll see different things, perhaps, than the person sitting Fred Hunger admires his work in the "Hunger for Art" exhibit. Universe City gallery will display his art through the end of the month. private or group tours can be set up by calling 458-8959.
