Show Signpost deans up at Utah Press Association The Signpost cleaned house at the 1 10'h Utah Press Association Awards held at the Casa Blanca in Mcsquite, NV on March 22. Each year, The Signpost competes against professional and student newspapers from across the state of Utah. "The number of awards given to The Signpost are a direct reflection of the quality of its staff, and show how dedicated they are in reporting the news to the community," said Devon Crus, editor in chief of 'The Signpost. The reflection of the staff came through when The Signpost won the Kirby Kirkman Award for General Excellence. This award is given to the best all-around paper in each group. The Signpost has only taken this award home one other time. The Signpost received awards in the following categories: 1st place Best News Story Witnesses give account of stabbing 1st place Best Feature Story Family, friends remember students life 1st place Best Feature Column Dueling movie junkies 1st place Best Special Section Winter Olympics 2002 1st place Best R.O.P. The Davis family rccieved this letter Saturday. The Davis family hears from their son about once every three weeks. This has left Bruce Davis looking for diversion during his down time. "I'm OK as long as I stay busy," Bruce Davis said. "Those quiet times are worrisome."
