Show Wildcats hope to finish season winning five By Jared Page Signpost sports editor The Weber State University football team will put an end to the 1993 season as they travel to Pocatello, Idaho, Saturday, to meet the Idaho State Bengals for the 33rd rime. Coming off a 67-28 home win against Northern Arizona University, the Wildcats will try to finish the season winning their fifth in a row. WSU rattled off 828 yards of total offense in the game, led by freshman quarterback Brad Otton's 540 yards passing. "We came out and played as hard as we have all season on both sides of the ball," Arslanian said Women's cross country sprint for Big Sky Conference title The Weber State University women's cross country team will be running for the Big Sky Conference title Saturday at the Big Sky NCAA District Seven Championship.The 5,000 meter race will begin at 12:15 p.m. at the Rose Park Golf Course in Salt Lake City. Spectators are welcome and there is no admission fee. Twenty schools are invited to the event, including eight schools from the Big Sky and eight from the Western Athletic Conference. WSU finished third in the Big Sky race and fifth in the District Seven meet last year. Northern Arizona University and Brigham Young University were the qualifying teams from district seven. "It reminded me of the type of game we played many times two years ago. The win gives us a winning season, which was one of our main goals before the start of the season." The Bengals, who are winless ites to qualify for the national meet. "The team that takes third in the district seven competition will have a very good shot of getting one of the at-large berths for the national meet," Coach Jim Blaisdell said. The Big Sky championship will boil down to a three-team battle between perennial power Northern Arizona, Montana State and WSU, Blaisdell said. "I am really not concerned about the national situation," he said. "Our first and main priority is to go out and win our first Big Sky Conference Championship. If we do that, the national situation will take care of itself." Running for WSU will be seniors Cathy Jolley, Michelle Sloan- beth Humpherys, junior Denise Spriggs and Shawna Cox. Weber State University quarterback Brad Otton has been selected as the Big Sky Conferencefootball offensive player of the week. Althoughhe came into the league as a quarterback, Anderson's amazing running ability made him a natural tailback. In 1 0 games thus fa r, he has rushed 142 times for 1,112 yards and scored five touchdowns. "Anderson could well be one of the most dangerous players in the league," Arslanian said. "He has tremendous acceleration and not only is a fine runningback, but is an excellent receiver as well." Idaho State, along with the University of Montana, is WSU's oldest continual football rival.
