The Vandals'-loss Saturday was McNeese's sixth victory in the last two minutes and their seventh consecutive victory overall. "Having the ball late in the game, we've been in that situation all year." quarterback Kerry Joseph said. "So the guys were confident that we could move the ball." Hey sports fans! Player of the week By DAREN SAUNDERS Sports writer of The Signpost Leading the Lady Wildcat basketball team in their first exhibition gameof the season was6-foot-2-inch junior, Wendy Talbot. Against the Portland Saints, Talbot threw in 14 points and pulled down a phenomenal 16 rebounds at the Dee Events Center. In addition to her scoring and rebounding abilities, she had one block and one steal as she played a tough 36 minutes. Even though the Lady Wildcats were defeated by a score of 64-58, no player on either side of the court could match Talbofs statistics. Talbot is a post player transferring from Pima Community College in Arizona. At Pima she averaged 12 points and nine rebounds per game and earned a Third Team All-ACC AC pick before coming to Weber State University. Before playing at Pima, Talbot played for Snowflake High School in Arizona, where she averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds. She was also a Second Team All-Conference and All Region selection, and helped Snowflake place second at the State Tournament. Head Coach Carla Taylor is very happy to have Talbot under the hoop for the Lady Wildcats. "Wendy is a very determined person on and off the floor," she said. "Hike her competitive spirit. I think she is someone who will come in and take control of the post position offensively and de- Name: Wendy Talbot Sport: Women's Basketball Hometown: Snowflake, Ariz. Yean Junior fensively." Talbot definitely fulfilled that statement, as she was very aggressive on the boards against the Saints, with 14 of her 16 rebounds coming from the defensive end of the court. Taylor really feels Talbot blends in well with the team. "She likes to get out and run the floor and fits into our system perfectly," Taylor said. Talbot is now focusing on a major in business management. WSU will face the Lady Utes next on Dec. 3, at home in the Dee Events Center.
