"Our responsibilty is to make sure a student's general education requirements have been met," Alger said. 'It is sad when a student goes through their academic career and waits until they have one quarter until graduation to come in and find out they can't graduate because they lack a requirement.""Usually we only see the students at the front end of their college experience and never again until they register for graduation," she said. "It is important -that the student stays in touch." Orientation for individual colleges are coordinated by Academic Advisement and the college. "Every college has a day," Alger said. "Social Sciences would send a representative and address what you can do in that department." Some faculty members are also introduced. The College of Business for example will be demonstrating computer graphics. A demo disk designed by Ebrahim Kololli and Clinton Childs illustrating the Computer Integrated Studies (CIS) program will be available during their orientation. Orientation is mandatory for all entering freshman. Not all of these services are provided by Academic Advisement during the orientation meetings, but are done on an individuel basis.
