Dr. Gary Willden department chair from 1985-90 will return to full-time teaching (to his disguised delight) and will be succeeded by an experimental "executive board" including Dr. Gordon James, JoAnn Otte, and Carol Westmoreland. This triumvirate, in concert with Dr. Davis, is expected to bring a new level of quality and professionalism to departmental administration. Our hope and expectation is Logistics (Continued plans into its program. But, much more has yet to be done. The center, like other departments, will be short of resources. Additional faculty members, to meet increasing curricular requirements, will have high priority. Updating course information will require continual attention. Global expansion, because of the communication and transportation revolution, will be the way of the future. We see this creating a need for an expanded curriculum in worldwide logistics management. Presently we have over 3000 non-traditional female students enrolled every quarter. This upward trend is expected to continue for various reasons. Many women are recognizing the need to be educationally prepared to meet the work force demands in specialized areas; others find the "new" space technology. Multiple space stations will probably exist which will create additional international problems and challenges. Expected increases in this exciting area must be reflected in a changing and updated curriculum and individual course content. We, in the logistics center plan to be a part of this challenge. We see the activities of the coming decade as suggesting an expanded role for the logistician. We intend to meet the challenge for we recognize that the future just ain't what is used to be. Since its inception in 1981, one of the greatest challenges of WERC has been making people aware of its existence. According to Sherry Burkes, WERC Coordinator, "We have the desire and capability to make the reentry transition experienced by most non-traditional women a smooth and delightful part of their whole educational encounter. We are brainstorming about how to reach more non-traditional women who are thinking about returning or who have already returned to WSC for more education." Identifying and assisting this large group of WSC potential will take the WERC through the 90s with challenges and excitement. FEAST $899' - Offer ends 5-27-90 Us!
