Sally Arway, librarian, said the first stage consolidating the reference center began the end of spring quarter and should be finished by the beginning of fall quarter. All major collections, including periodicals, government documents and micro-film, are being shifted in a massive reorganization move. Arway said that work study monies appropriated by the college enabled them to hire students to assist in the move. "We're ahead of schedule because of that ... we have a pretty good crew." ' The second and third stages of the project consist of revamping the archives section, remodeling and adding additional floors to the library. "The changes will simplify procedures and policies to make it an easier operation for the student." By the end of the first stage, two desk areas will be operational for students. Arway said the second stage could begin within a year, but she doesn't envision the third stage happening until the mid-1990's. Let the classifieds work for you! For students who don't realize the benefits of a reference library, Arway said the system of finding material can be intimidating. "Some of the students can really become intimidated. I know those who have taken English 102 become a little more familiar with the system." The Stewart Library has a general collection of more than 300,000 materials and more than 70,000 volumes of periodicals. Express your opinion . .
