Show 10 Signpost Friday, May 20, 1983 William Pitt Band Concert honors long time Ogden Dr. Clair W. Johnson, noted composer and arranger of Concert Band Music, will be honored by the William Pitt Band in Concert on Wednesday, May 25 at 8:00 p.m. in the Weber State College. Austad Auditorium. Dr. Johnson is widely known for his compositions for band literature, as well as small ensembles and solos for all wind instruments. His music has been played by almost all of the junior high and high schools in the United States says Dr. K. Earl Ericksen, music department chairman. Dr. Johnson is being honored by dedicating the Band and Orchestra Room at the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts in his name. To further honor him, the William Pitt Band has asked him to conduct several of his compositions on stage that evening. cUssifiEds HELP WANTED EVENING CASHIER. Lou Johnson, son of Dr. Johnson, will be featured as a clarinet soloist, with Gordon Johnson, another son, accompanying him on belcanto. A selection "Trumpters Three" will feature Loyal West, Harvey Higley and Dan Williams. Dr. Johnson joined the Weber State College music faculty in 1938 and devoted his life to upgrading the musical offerings in Ogden and at the college.
