Show May 22, 1979 Signpost I'agell Cont, education important "Continuing education is just as important to older citizens as anybody else," said Fran Taylor, activities director for the Wasatch Care Center. Mrs. Taylor noted she is looking for volunteers for the nursing home. She said college students would be perfect for the job because they are well informed on current events. The director said she would like the students to volunteer their services for entertainment, discussion groups, or any form of lectures in their field. She noted the senior citizens at the center are just as hungry for knowledge as are college students. "They would appreciate any student coming in and sharing their education with them," she added. Any interested student wanting to participate in the program can call 399-5600 for more information. They can also drop in the center at 3430 Harrison. History Outing Slated The WSC History Club and the Weber Historical Society have announced a joint outing for Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2, during which members of the college history department will conduct a tour through prominent historical sites. The expedition will leave the college June 1 to travel to Lander, Wyoming, for an overnight stay. As the group travels westward that afternoon, it will visit numerous points of interest along the way, such as "the parting of the ways," where the Oregon Trail left the Mormon Trail, and Big Mountain, from which the 1847 pioneers got their first glimpse of the Great Salt Lake Valley. The trip is a no-host affair with no fee. Participants will need money for two meals and lodging. Transportation can be arranged through the History Club. For further information and reservations, contact Dorothy Draney at 626-6706 before Wednesday, May 30. Soccer The Weber State soccer team defeated Idaho State recently by a score of four to three. Merdad Najib scored three goals, and Ali Bah-bahnie added one for the winners. I .van i Vt 1 1 u. Darrel G. Gamble Instructor T Glade F. Howell Institute Director Douglas E.
