Show Page 12 Signpost Feb. 28, 1978 A variety of events scheduled on campus National Physical Education Week s tarts Wednesday March 1 at WSC f Weber ' 1! ntramural Mews Wednesday, March 1 through Tuesday, March 7 is National Physical Education and Sports Week for 1978. A variety of events are scheduled on the WSC Campus during that week and all events are open to everyone, student, non-student and the community. On Wednesday, a campus run will be held. It will begin at 11 a.m. at the P.E. Building. At 1 p.m., Wednesday, a Snowshoe Softball game will be played on the lower quad. Thursday March 2 is the day in which everyone in Ogden is encouraged to ride your bike, run, walk, or skateboard to school or work. Jogging Clinic At noon Friday in the Union Building, a dance presentation will take place. Saturday, a jogging clinic will be staged from 10 a.m. till noon, sponsored by the P.E. department and the Sierra Club. A run to downtown Ogden will be included in that clinic. Sunday is a rest day, while Monday will feature an outdoor volleyball game at noon on the lower quad. The final day will include a team running mini-marathon that begins at noon and goes until 4 p.m. Four runners on a team will compete in three men and women's categories. The WSC Health and Physical Education department invites anyone and everyone to participate in any of these events; further information is available in the physical education building, or from John Knight at campus extension 327. Jogging clinic set Wo men win twice The Weber State Women moved closer to the Intermountain conference playoffs last weekend by sweeping victories in two conference games at home. The Veber Women, behind Kathy Miller's game high 24 points blasted New Mexico State University 84-69 on Friday, while WSC whalloped Texas El Paso 72-58 on Saturday. Two Games Left Weber now has a flashy 16-7 season record and a 9-2 conference slate. Weber has two games left before the conference regional playoffs. WSC plays the University of Utah this Thursday and will face Brigham Young on Saturday. Both are road games. Besides Miller, Jenny Wilkening, Penny Wanberg and also Mechell Fowden played stellar offense and defense for Weber during last weekend's games. Fitness week, National Physical Education and Sports week is March 1-7 for 1978. The WSC Health and Physical Education Department is sponsoring a jogging contest in conjunction with this event. Anyone can enter and during the week of March 1-7, you your school, organization and club keeps track of its mileage from jogging. Awards Awards will be given to the high School, junior high, elementary school, fitness center, and organization with the most total miles. Awards will also be given to individuals who accumulate the most miles in those categories and also to teams which have the most participants. Coach leaves Weber State's offensive line football coach, Art Calloway will leave WSC today to accept a position with an insurance company in Los Angeles. The men and women's intramural swimming meet was held last week and the Shark Team won the men's championship, while the Honorable Mention Team won the women's aqua title. Beta was second in the men's competition with 90 points. The Sharks won easily with 148 total teams points. Third was Delta Phi with 47 points. Honorable Mention overpowered the women's competition by piling up 184 points to far outdistance ' runnerup Stansbury, which had 51 points. The Rowdy team finished third with 45 points and O.T. came in fifth at 19 points. In the men's basketball championship, the Sixers defeated the H. Hot Shots 40-28 to win the title. Spooner and Levetan combined for 26 points to lead the Sixer's attack, while Trujillo added 10 for the losers. Men's one on one basketball competition is the next upcoming intramural event.
