Identification Identification of students is clearly defined by this year's election committee. For the ASWSC studentbody officer and academic assembly elections each student voting will be required to show their studentbody card or their registration receipt card; have the appropriate date marked on the back of the identification; and, be given an academic assembly ballot allowing the person to vote only in the area of his declared major as record in the official computer print-out by this college. General education students may declare the area he or she wishes to vote in, with election judges issuing the student a ballot for said area. A student in secondary education can vote in the education area with proof of their acceptance into that particular program. Polling Booths Polling booths will be located only in the U.B., Social Science, Science Hall, Gymnasium, and Technology by Dave Ottenheimer Have you ever considered majoring in automotive body technology? What about diesel technology, or maybe welding? According to recent analysis of the openings in these fields, you would probably be throwing "loaded dice" in the game of job placement. Nearly 100 percent of the ' students enrolled in these one and two year technology courses have very little trouble finding work, says Dr. Dale S. Cowgill, Dean of the School of Technology at WSC. Cowgill points out: "We are simply jammed with students and have a waiting list for both day and night classes." An "instructor in diesel engineering, Eugene Meske, says there are currently 49 students enrolled in his course. In spite of the increase of enrollment anticipated next quarter, 12 diesel tech majors will still be placed on the waiting list hoping for a chance to get in the "overcrowded" Thousands of Topics $2.75 per page Send for your up-to-date, 160-page, mail order catalog. Ballots will be counted three times by the entire elections committee on the day of election. The present Executive Council has suggested a spending limit of $300 for all candidates for vice president. A $50 kicker has been added for anyone' seeking the position of student body officer, . leveled off at $350. An initial financial statement will be submitted, as outlined by the election by-laws, on the day of primaries to the chairman of the committee for elections. A final financial statement is required to be submitted on the day of final elections, detailing the amount of money spent and in what areas the money was spent. Restricted Campaigning All campaigning will be restricted to certain voting areas to be drawn by each candidate. These areas will be marked off and controlled by the elections committee. Any campaigning material will be attached to the person or personal belongings including such things as ties, stickers, badges, T-shirts and so forth. The exception to this rule is for one uniform handbill or pamphlet. is demanding classrooms. Meske also explains that enrollment jumped 45 percent over last year's attendance figures, requiring employment of two additional shop aids who assist him with his mode of instruction.Auto body and welding courses are also full, according to Cowgill. Although tech courses are overcrowded, a problem does exist with graduating students from these popular courses. "We had four candidates in diesel tech and five in auto tech who were eligible for graduation last year," points out Cowgill. He then explains that as a regular occurance students will often score a good job before their scheduled graduation "and not bother to graduate." However, Cowgill does admit the school is having a problem with a lack of space and overpopulation in some areas. He says that because of a flaw in procedure, involving a decision to remodel, plus the tremendous expense accompanying a building face-lift, the school will have to wait until the next fiscal year to work on the building.
