David Broder said Martino will be the first speaker. He is a Pulitzer Prize winner for a Political Correspondence column in the Washington Post. "In a survey," said Martino, "taken by American Universities of the leading 100 journalists he was polled as the top political journalist in 1972." Dr. Ashley Montagu, Anthropologist, author of the Natural Superiority of Women, is scheduled as the second speaker in the series. Montagu's interest range across the broadest possible spectrum, . encompassing science and religion, American values, evolution, modern art and education. His topic will be "The Natural in the series. She currently is President of the Association of Women in Science. She is also the Professor of Medicine at Goergetown University. Martino stated that this will dependent non-profit, educational organization which has become known around the world for their musical productions. - Up with People unite to try to act as an interaction between people of varied backgrounds and across all barriers; age, class, race, nationality, or political point of view. Up with People casts are on the road ten months out of the year. In the United States alone they have performed in all 50 states and at over 1,000 colleges and high schools. . Martino stated that the Up with People cast came to WSC in 1969 with two standing room only performances. He further said the school was well represented because students from all schools were involved as well as faculty. Martino stated that this had to be one of the finest convocations series he had ever seen. Martino also mentioned that he had been chairing the meeting for 10 years. Final exams set Classwork will end Friday, May 28, and examinations will be conducted Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 27, 28 and 29. All three, four, and five credit hours classes will take final examinations in their regular rooms. Any changes required by a conflict resulting from sharing the weekly use of a room at the same classroom hour will be announced by the class instructor prior to the final classroom period. All English 100, 101, 102 Tind 103 students will have final examination on Tuesday May 27, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. in rooms to be announced by instructors. All Mathematics 101, 105, and 106 classes will have final examinations on Wednesday, May 28, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in rooms to be announced by instructors. Grad notice Before graduating, candidates for graduation are again reminded to check their graduation list. Students are to make sure they have reserved tickets, announcements if needed, and caps and gowns. Students who have a GPA of 3.8 or above will graduate Magna Cum Laude. Students who have a GPA of 3.4 will graduate cum laude. Students may pick up their caps and gowns May 27 and 28 Following the Memorial day weekend. |
